Dear Prime Minister
As your government has committed Australia to a policy of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050, I would like to point out, based on detailed research, what this commitment will mean to our country in terms of the cost and the logistics.
The lead story on the website www.actforaustralia.org quotes a report from a credible researcher claiming the cost of implementing your government’s net-zero policy by 2050 could be as high as 4.4 trillion dollars.
The report, based on your government’s report, Australian Energy Update, Commonwealth of Australia 2020 – Guide to the Australian Energy Statistics 2020, reveals the logistics will be all but impossible to achieve. And the estimated cost would could cripple our economy.
The report quotes Chief Scientist Finkel, when giving evidence before a Senate committee, as saying that the net-zero policy will have negligible impact on world temperatures.
Prime Minister, I would like to ask you a question: If aiming to achieve net-zero emissions will have a negligible impact on world temperatures, why would you commit Australia to a program that may decimate the economy, cost up to four trillion dollars, hobble our manufacturing and international competitiveness while China, refusing to bow to the climate alarmists, grows economically, politically and militarily?
I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully
