Dear Minister
The ABC receives over one billion dollars of taxpayer funds annually, but, in my opinion, and the opinions of many others, it has abandoned its charter and has become the propaganda arm of the Greens, the radical Left and the climate activists.
We believe it is free to carry out its propaganda activity if it wishes, but not at taxpayer expense.
Hence I believe the time has come to privatise the ABC.
Firstly, it will be necessary to allow the ABC to generate income from advertising while at the same time scaling back the taxpayer funding.
When the ABC has become self-supporting, the government should then carry out a privatisation.
I believe this will be an easier sell than trying to “defund” the ABC, particularly if ABC staff are given a substantial amount of shares at the IPO.
To start the process , it will be necessary to delete Section 31(1) of the Australian Broadcasting Act 1983, which states:
The Corporation shall not broadcast advertisements on any of the Corporation’s broadcasting services
Minister, I would like to ask you a question: Would you support removing Section 31(1) of the Australian Broadcasting Act?
I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully
